The Beaches of Croyde, Putsborough, Saunton & Woolacombe are all within easy reach. Croyde beach is only a 10 minute walk from Lane Head. All four beaches have the European Blue Flag award with local life guards patrolling.

In Croyde there are a variety of restaurants and pubs which all serve excellent food & drink. The best known are The Thatch, Billy Buds & The Manor which are all very family friendly. Billy Budds and The Manor both have childrenís play areas. For a little more sophistication, maybe a special treat or occasion at the  Whiteleaf will not disappoint. If you just want to have a relaxed meal in the village then Hobbs or The Blue Groove could fit the bill. For a good Devon cream tea, lunch and refreshments The National Trust Sandleigh Tea Room & Garden are located very close to the beach with National Trust parking close by, also The Old Cream Shop & Tea Garden in the villages are very well worth a visit

A few miles up the road in Georgeham you will find The Rock & The Kings Arms, both are popular family eating and drinking venues.

On the north coast is the very picturesque villages of Lynton & Lynmouth. In Lynmouth there is a harbour, Cliff Railway, Rhenish Tower, boats and challenging surf. You can even fish for salmon and trout. There is a good selection of shops & restaurants

The tiny fishing village of Clovelly is a lovely cobbled fishing village which is secluded, but easy to find. The village is traffic free and the main street, known very simply as 'up-a-long' and 'down-a-long', tumbles its cobbled way down 400ft of solid rock to the tiny harbour and lifeboat station, both protected by an ancient stone breakwater. It is a descent past flower-strewn cottages, broken only by tempting little passageways and tiny winding lanes that lead off to either side and offer the prospect of discovering even more peaceful, picturesque treasures of Clovelly.

Breathtaking coastal scenery and fantastic walks can be found at Hartland Quay. There is a slipway leading to a sandy and rocky beach that is ideal for families, where you can swim in the sea, fish in the rock pools or just lie there and enjoy the sunshine. The Quay beach is safe for bathing and there are numerous exciting coves within walking and motoring distance.

The charming seaside village of Woolacombe with its three-mile long stretch of golden sand has won both the blue flag and Premier Seaside Beach awards for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. Life guards ensure safe family swimming during the summer and surfers come from all over the country to enjoy the great waves and clean water. Woolacombe is a lively village with a variety of great pubs, restaurants and shops.

The elegant Victorian fishing town of Ilfracombe has lots to do and see Ilfracombe is a stunning coastal town with white washed houses, grand Victorian villas and terraces which climb over the Wilder Valley from its dramatic coastal scenery. It is a resort that also has a contemporary edge from its top class restaurants and galleries, to its theatre and night life. In summer the streets and promenade are alive with the colour from magnificent floral displays. The many pubs, restaurants and shops that surround the quay create a friendly continental atmosphere. It is from the harbour that boats leave to the magical Lundy Island.

If itís just Fish & Chips that you want then Bay View Farm in the village is the place to go

Braunton also has a variety of restaurants, pubs and take a ways to suit all.

Fun for all the family at The Milky Way Adventure Park. With adventure, live entertainment, education and even an alien encounter, it's a great day out for the whole family whatever the weather! The North Devon Bird of prey centre is one of the best examples in the UK

Come and experience our fun packed timetable at The Big Sheep which enables you to get close to the animals, from bottle-feeding the lambs to feeding friendly sheep. As a working farm you will get to see dog trials, duck trials and sheep shearing, and watch the world famous sheep race, complete with jockey! As well as pony rides there is also a horse-whispering show. 'Ewetopia' is a premier indoor play zone to take the biggest of kids - even dads! Special play zones for Under 5’s and under 2’s.
 
If it’s a night out at the Theatre that you want then go no further than Queens Theatre in Barnstaple or the Landmark Theatre in Ilfracombe. Local Horse Riding is available at Roylands Riding Stables which is only five minutes’ walk down the road.

There are two indoor Swimming Pools locally. Cascades at the Ruda Holiday Park in Croyde which is a fun pool with slides in a tropical theme. The Leisure Centre in Barnstaple has an Olympic sized pool for more traditional swimming.

There are a good selection of Golf Courses locally that will suit everyone. Saunton is a links with two 18 hole courses. Further 18 hole courses can be found at Ilfracombe, Westward Ho & Portmore which is just outside of Barnstaple.

Five minutes walk from Lane head there is a Tennis Court at Upoverí which is open to the public. More tennis courts are available at the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple.

Squash, badminton, bowls, gym and various other activities are available at the North Devon Leisure Centre in Barnstaple.

Good Fishing can be had all around the coast of North Devon but particularly at Croyde, Ilfracombe, Fremington Quay, Bideford & Morte Point.
